Cash in envelopes and defective masks
The Supreme Court trial concluded on May 6 after 14 sessions and is now awaiting verdict. Ábalos testified for 6 hours denying all bribes ("€10,000! How cheap I am") and attacked Aldama, the prosecutor and the investigating judge. The Supreme Court shields the parallel investigation at the National Court, which in May added trial testimonies to the public works and PSOE financing cases. Sentences requested: 24 years (Ábalos), 19.5 years (Koldo), 7 years (Aldama).
Indicted on four counts · Jury trial
On April 13, judge Peinado closed the investigation and indicted her for influence peddling, business corruption, embezzlement and misappropriation (the professional intrusion charge was dropped). Twelve days earlier she had snubbed the judge by skipping the April 1 summons. The popular accusation requests 24 years. Begoña runs a university chair without a degree and her circle crossed paths with the Air Europa bailout (€475M).
From bribes to Venezuelan oil — now linked to Zapatero
A tax fraud scheme now revised upward to 231 million euros (from 182M€ after extending analysis from 2021), with direct links to Venezuela, PDVSA and the Plus Ultra case. In March 2026, Aldama delivered the PDVSA envelope with $250M oil quotas linked to PSOE financing. In May 2026, judge Pedraz sent Aldama and Pano's testimonies to the PSOE payments case. The case has an open front in the US, tied to the same Venezuelan network now linked to Zapatero.
The president's brother: a tailor-made position in Badajoz
David Sánchez, Pedro Sánchez's brother, received €340,567 from the Badajoz Provincial Council (2017-2025) in a tailor-made position. His assets increased by €600,000. With the trial a month away, 5 key witnesses are missing: a tax inspector and 4 council officials. The court is also struggling to locate David Sánchez himself.
